pri·va·cy, n.: what we keep about you, and why.
Without an account
Your dictionary, drill results, palaces, Daily Digits streak and settings are saved in this browser's storage. They are not sent to us. Clearing the site's data in your browser removes them.
- Once a day the site sends a visit count with no identifier: the number of days since this browser's previous visit, the page it opened, and the domain of the site that linked to it. We use it to count daily and monthly visitors.
- If you answer the optional questions after the grocery challenge, your answers and scores are stored under a random receipt number that is not linked to you.
With an account
You sign in with a link or code sent to your email. We then store your email address, handle, display name and bio, and what you make on the site: suggestions, votes, decks, palaces and the images you upload, drill results, journey progress, follows, reports and preferences. Your handle, bio, suggestions and anything you publish are public.
This data lives on our own server at api.majordictionary.com. An encrypted backup is made every day and kept for 30 days.
Payments
Paid journeys are bought through Stripe. We store which journey you bought, the price and Stripe's payment reference; your card details go to Stripe, never to us. Authors who sell a journey connect a Stripe account, and we store its Stripe account ID.
Other services
- The site is hosted on Vercel, which serves the pages and keeps standard request logs.
- Fonts load from Google Fonts, so your browser requests them from Google.
- Sign-in emails are sent through our email provider.
There are no ads, no analytics or tracking scripts, and no advertising cookies. We do not sell or share your data.
Deleting your data
Email hwansung595@gmail.com from the address you sign in with and we will delete your account and everything linked to it. Copies in backups expire within 30 days.
